Tree ornaments are free style carvings. I do not follow a patten. I make the image up as I go along.

Candlestick Figures

Also free style, Candlestick figures are carved from a piece of wood that has been rounded and tapered to an elongated bullet shape. At that point, I begin carving the figure. Candlestick figures can be tall and skinny or short and fat.  I make up the figure as I go along, adding details as I think of them. Some figures may be very much a like but no two are identical.  

There are a few carvings shown here that are titled "5 Minutes To Midnight".   These pieces have a pocket watch hanging from a chain carved onto them and the time shown is always 5 minutes to midnight.  I carve these in both Candle Stick style and also in pieces from original patterns.  Unfortunately the watches are usually on the side of the piece and don't show up in photos taken from the front.  I will try to show more views of a single carving as my skill level in managing the website, grows.  There are many details on various pieces, that do not show from one angle....

Carvings From Original Patterns

These carvings are made from patterns I have created. I sketch the figures and turn them into patterns that are then transferred to a block of wood and cut out on a bandsaw.  Depending on the size and complexity of the pattern, carving can take weeks or months.
